Our Instructors are keeping busy, teaching most of their normal classes from their own homes. Virtual Learning is a term that is new to some of us, but one that we may all be experts in, very soon.
With the new Stay At Home order, Karate International searched for a solution for our students. Our team came together and created a great schedule of Virtual Group Classes, Virtual Private Lessons and our own KI TV, a library of previously recorded Livestreamed classes. With the help of Google Hangout Meet, have had great success delivering 5-7 classes per day and an average of 15 Private Lessons per day.
This is a great time to learn something new, or get better at something you have not been able to give enough time to previously. One interesting benefit of Virtual Classes, has been to see some children, in particular, blossom in their martial arts in the setting of their own home. Who would have ever guessed, that taking away all the clutter of a group class in our facility, would actually enhance their learning skills?
In addition, with each student receiving one private lesson per week with an instructor, we have had the greatest opportunity to relate on an individual level and to help them where they need it the most. Every dark cloud has a silver lining. We think this was a lesson we were meant to learn. This journey of moving from our active lives in the dojo to more constrained days in our homes, could have been very dark times for many. For those of us who are lucky enough to remain healthy, we are going to push forward with this new reality and explore Virtual Learning!
